FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Physiotherapy?
As result of injury, abnormal movement patterns, pain, muscle weakness, trauma, surgery and acute or chronic illness a person may not be able to perform at optimal levels in their day-to-day life, work or sport.  Physiotherapy aims to facilitate the return to the highest level of performance in all aspects of life through treating and fully rehabilitating the underlying causes.  Treatments are individualised following a thorough assessment.  Prevention of injury and the promotion of healthy lifestyles are also key components of physiotherapy.

What do I need to bring to the first session?
Please bring your ID document, medical aid details, and any referral letters, x-rays or relevant reports should you have any.

What do I wear?
It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing. In order to perform a proper assessment and treatment, it may be necessary for the physiotherapist to uncover parts of the body.  This will at all times be done in a professional, respectful manner.

Do we submit to medical aids?
Unfortunately we do not submit directly to medical aids.  We request that you pay us directly and then claim back from your medical aid.

What is the cost of a session?
The cost of your treatment will vary depending on modalities used, duration of treatment and individual treatment or group classes. Please contact our reception for more information.

Can I claim back from my medical aid?
Yes, we provide you with a statement and receipt on payment. Please note that we are not contracted to any medical aid. If, and how much your medical aid will pay depends on your medical aid and plan and funds available. We charge according to the treatment codes provided by the SASP and BHF. Different medical aids pay different amounts for each code and your medical aid may not refund you in full. The amount we charge per code is an average between medical aids to simplify our billing, as we prefer to focus our attention on providing quality treatment to our clients.

How do I pay?
We accept cash and have credit card facilities available.

How long is a session?
A session is approximately 45 minutes.

What if I need to cancel?
Should you not be able to make your appointment, we request that you let us know at least 3 hours prior to the appointment. A fee of R200 will be charged if cancellations are not made within 3 hours prior to the appointment. This fee will be payable by the patient and will not be refundable by your medical aid.
